My name is Savannah . I am 7 years
old and started in 4-H Heartlanders last year after Christmas. I did
participate in some events last year. I wanted to join 4-H because my dog, a
rat terrier named Buttercup, didn't listen as a puppy. She would run off
when we tried to pick her up and she chased cars down our street. |

Since
Buttercup was 8 months old we have trained together and it has taught her to
listen, behave and come when we call her. Our favorite activity is agility
because Buttercup loves the tunnel and the ramp. Last year we participated in
our first show in March at the State Fairgrounds in Tampa. Buttercup did well
on the agility, but refused to lie on the table. We will have to work on that
this year. Buttercup was given a toy and I got a green ribbon for the event.

This year we plan to practice on
the new agility equipment our club was able to purchase. This way Buttercup
will be ready for all the events. Our first show will be the Bartow Fun show in
October. We are really excited. We are planning to attend and be able to attend
the State show this year, too. Buttercup loves Santa Paws, a dog's Christmas
event in December at the Highlands Hammock. You can also see us at the
Christmas parade walking with our club in Sebring. We have already begin
looking for the right costume for Buttercup. She is only 8 lbs so it is hard to
find the perfect outfit.
In my club, 4-H Heartlands we have great
friends. Buttercup hangs out with all her friends, who are all dogs and I hang
with mind. Last year we competed against all the other clubs in 4-H Olympics.
We did not win, but it was fun. We also had an awesome end of the year swim
party. We are really looking forward to so much Buttercup and I can't wait for
it all to begin.
