  Caitlin Bailey
Polk County

The first time I saw Caitlin Bailey showing dogs, she was four years old.  She was demonstrating open exercises with the trainer’s German Shepherd Dog in the trick class at the Polk County Fun Dog Show.  But it was no trick- she was giving the commands to a dog taller than she was.  She won the class easily based on audience applause.

We had no competition for clover buds but that did not keep her from attending dog class with her brother, Robby Hartley.   As an 8 year old, she showed a rescued German shepherd that tried to pull her around the ring. I was impressed as I watched her work to keep his attention and finish the routine. She showed guts and determination.

This year was her second year showing a Shetland Sheepdog named Murphy.  Both petite and perky, they appear to float around the ring like great dance partners.

The team placed first in showmanship, Obedience and Agility at State Fair. Not only was Caitlin the Jr High Point Winner, she was the Jr. Champion of Champion winner.  What a great achievement!

Caitlin also participated in the Dog Bowl Competition.  When she is not showing her dog, she can be found showing Boer Goats.  She won first place at Citrus Festival, and has had several Grand Champions at other fairs around the State.
