2010 State Fair 4-H Dog Show Attracted Over 150
Dogs
The 2010
Florida State Fair 4-H Dog Show had more than 150 dogs entered in Showmanship,
Obedience Rally and Agility. The show was held at the State Fairgrounds on
February 6 & 7 and hosted exhibitors from all over the state of
Florida.
The State Fair 4-H Dog Show is the State Championship Dog
Show for all Florida 4-H Dog Project members. Each year the best of the best
compete to see who will be t5he 'top dog.'
Besides the four performance
divisions other competitions take place in conjunction with the 4-H Dog Show as
well. The Champion of Champions program tests exhibitors on their dog knowledge
and rewards them for excellence in record book keeping, skilathon testing,
educational posters and participation in the 'Ask Me' booth. Champions
participants compete for cash prizes and Savings Bonds for the 4-H Dog Project
in the amounts of $1.000.00, $750.00,$500.00, $250.00 and
$100.00.
Exhibitors can also participate in the Dog Quiz Bowl which is
set up like the Family Feud game. They compete on a team and answer questions
on dog health, anatomy and dog show rules.
Also offered at the State
Fair Dog Show are classes for Brace where one exhibitor shows two dogs at once
and Team where four 4-H'ers comprise a 'team' and are judged in healing and
drill type exercises.
The 2010 Florida State Fair was a huge success and
exhibitors are already looking forward to next year's State Fair Show!
