The DogGone Crazy 4-H Club began in 1999 as a way for St.
Johns County 4-H'ers to learn how to care for and train their pet dogs, and to
show their dogs in obedience, showmanship, agility, rally, costume and trick
classes. Over the past few years, dozens of DogGone Crazy 4-Her's have excelled
in their dog projects, attaining state-level awards and going on to animal
related fields after graduation. They are also dedicated to community service
and learning life skills through project work and club officer positions. We
are incredibly proud of all of our DogGone Crazy 4-H members, and consider them
all outstanding! Because we don't have the space to show all members, we've
chosen 4 to represent our club:
Long Down: the long
down in the Sub-Novice B Obedience class, SJC Fair 4-H Dog Show. Michaela
Scales is shown 3rd from the left, with remaining class participants (L to R),
Kaycie Anderson, Amber West, Lauren Swain and Kaydee West. (West sisters are
from Hillsborough County)
Senior 4-H'ers Lauren Swain, Age 14
Lauren is our longest standing club member, having been in DogGone Crazy
for 4 years. Lauren shows 2 dogs: Arrow, a 1 year old Siberian Husky, and
Pepper, an 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix; and has won numerous awards in
all dog classes. Lauren tied for our Senior High Point Individual at this
year's St. Johns County Fair 4-H Dog Show.
Michaela Scales, Age 14
Michaela joined DogGone Crazy shortly after Lauren. She shows and excels in
all dog classes with her German Shepherd/Greyhound mix, Charlie. Michaela
served as the DogGone Crazy president last year, and tied for Senior High Point
Individual at this year's St. Johns County Fair 4-H Dog Show. Michaela
volunteers for pet rescue, and wants to be a dog trainer. |

Beginning 4-H'ers Logan
Holanchock, age 10 Logan joined DogGone Crazy just this year in September,
and won Junior High Point Individual in this year's St. Johns County Fair 4-H
Dog Show with her 3 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd, Aqua.
Marina Carcaba, age 12 Marina
also joined DogGone Crazy this year, and won several awards in the fair dog
show. Marina exemplifies this year's incoming new members: enthusiastic and
fun-loving, yet dedicated and hard-working. The judge noted at the fair dog
show that this was one of the best groups of beginning dog show participants
she had ever judged. Lauren Swain: always very
creative in the costume department, here at the Jacksonville Fair 4-H Dog Show,
Lauren is a bus driver and Arrow is the bus!
