Dear
CEDs, DEDs, and 4-H Agents, As discussed in
January, National 4-H Council has asked Florida 4-H to take a leadership role
in developing what may become a nationwide annual pet treat fundraising
campaign that would benefit every level of 4-H. The 100% made in the USA,
superior-quality pet treats are supplied by Best In Show Pet Treats and reflect
the values and image of 4-H. The company supplies all the materials and works
with each participating County to maximize ease and success. The sale period is
organized and concise.
Based on feedback from county staff, faculty,
and volunteers, Florida will be hosting this fund-raiser in the fall. It is not
mandatory, but does provide some funds that come back to your county based on
the quantity of product that is sold by individual members. We will need a
commitment from your county by mid September. Mark your calendars for Oct. 9
through Oct. 26th, particularly encouraging weekend sales by your 4-H clubs or
4-H schools. You can conduct a pre-order sale or just order cases for direct
sales. The product will be delivered before the holidays so its a great time of
year to sell pet treats as many people purchase gifts for their pets for
Christmas.
Stay tuned for more information; talk with your volunteers
and school system; and recruit a Volunteer Coordinator NOW! More information
will be shared with agents, volunteers, and youth over the coming months.

Scholarship |
Thanks to all the 4-H members,
parents, sponsors and donors that contributed to the 2008 4-H Dog Project
Scholarship Show! Together we reached our first goal of sending
$1,000.00 dollars to the UF 4-H Foundation to establish the Florida 4-H Dog
Project Scholarship. This Scholarship will be awarded for the first time in
June of 2009. The Florida 4-H Scholarship Fund will continue fundraising to
enable us to make this an annual Scholarship. Our long term goal is to raise
$20,000.00 to make this a perpetual fund that will payout $1,000.00 each year
to a Florida 4-H Dog Project member. |
